I want to be a donor
Anonymous, voluntary and informed donation
Egg donation
Egg donation consists of voluntarily giving your eggs to help other women become mothers, as they cannot achieve a pregnancy with their own.
Which requirements should be considered to become an egg donor?
- By law, donors must be between 18 and 36 years old.
- Neither you or your family members have a genetic, hereditary or congenital disease that can be transmitted.
- Be healthy, both physically and psychologically.
- Have a normal ovarian function.
During the examination we will perform a gynecological checkup, an ultrasound scan, blood tests and an interview with our psychologist.
Once we have found a compatible woman, whom we call the recipient, we will synchronize your menstrual cycles. Then, you will have to take some hormone preparations to grow several eggs in your ovaries. Our doctors will be seeing you regularly to check, by ultrasounds and blood tests, that everything is going well. The “ovarian stimulation”, which is what we call it, takes between 10 and 15 days, after which you will be called for the “follicular puncture”, which is the procedure in which we will extract the eggs.
The “follicular puncture” is performed vaginally and generally takes no more than 20 minutes to extract the follicular liquid, in which your eggs are immersed. You will not feel any pain during this process, as our anesthetist will have given you a sedative so that you do not feel any discomfort. After waking up and resting, once our medical team has verified that everything is fine and we have scheduled you for a complete check-up, you will be able to leave.
Many more women are suffering from infertility or sterility problems, either because their ovaries do not produce eggs, or because the eggs they produce are of insufficient quality to achieve a pregnancy. You’d be surprised how many women suffer from early menopause, diseases that affect the quality of their eggs, or even aggressive medical treatment needed to save their own lives.
Other women are at high risk of having children with serious genetic disorders, which cannot be prevented with current medical technology.
Will you help us to give these women a chance to be a mother?
Article 3, chapter I of Royal Decree-law 9/2014 of 4 July says:
“The donation of tissues and cells will be, in any case, voluntary and altruistic, not being able to perceive economic consideration or remuneration by the donor nor any other physical or legal person. Living donors of cells or tissues may receive compensation from the institution responsible for extraction, limited, strictly, to cover the costs and disadvantages of obtaining as diets, restitution of lost or similar income.”
Sperm donation
Sperm donation allows couples or women to fulfill their dream of starting a family.
Which requirements should be considered to become a sperm donor?
- By law, donors must be between 18 and 39 years old.
- Neither you or your family members have a genetic, hereditary or congenital disease that can be transmitted.
- Be healthy, both physically and psychologically.
Our medical team will receive you and carry out an interview to find out about your and your family’s health story.
Furthermore, we will carry out a blood test and a semen analysis and culture to rule out possible infections and determine the quality.
Sperm donation helps heterosexual couples in which the male does not generate sperm, produces low quality sperm or has a high risk of transmitting a hereditary genetic alteration that cannot be avoided with currently available medical technology.
You also help single mothers and women’s couples to become mothers.
