Assisted Hatching
Improving embryo implantation
This technique is performed with the purpose of improving embryo implantation and in vitro fertilization results. It is carried out by making a hole in the zona pellucida, “the shell” of the embryo, to facilitate its exit and implantation. It allows the embryo to hatch more easily.
Assisted hatching is generally developed in embryos that have unusual morphological characteristics, such as thick or amorphous membranes, which make implantation difficult.
During this process, which is carried out by laser, small imperfections can also be removed from the embryo that can alter its development.
